Please introduce yourself, where are you based and where do you
photograph wildlife?
Hello, My name is Eran Gershoni, I am a Canon shooter based in Israel. I started at 2017 as a junior wildlife photographer and I’am still enjoy and learning every time.
Most of the time I photograph birds in my country. Israel is a popular destination for migratory birds, as it sits at the crossroads of several major bird migration routes. Millions of birds pass through the country each year, making it a prime location for birdwatching and bird photography.
What do you love most about your work as a wildlife photographer?
The thing I like the most in this hobby and makes me feel good is the time when I’am in the hide, only me and the birds, I really enjoy the silence, the chirping of the birds and the connection to nature.
What advice would you give to young photographers who are just
starting out and considering pursuing a career in wildlife
photography?
Study animal behavior: Understanding the behavior of the animals you want to photograph will help you anticipate their actions and get better shots.
Get to know your local wildlife: Start by photographing animals in your local area, as this will help you build your skills and portfolio.
Be patient: Wildlife photography often requires a lot of waiting and patience. Be prepared to spend long hours in the field to get the perfect shot.
How do you think your style has evolved over the years?
At the beginning of my journey as a wildlife photographer i was looking for the easy way to get beautiful photos from paid photography hides, today I do that less, when you do it yourself, the results are unique and the satisfaction is huge! I am constantly looking for ways to challenge myself, to do new things and do it better.
How do you enrich your passion of wildlife photography?
I try at least once a year to travel abroad for new places and for animals that I have not yet met and photographed.
